If the World A, 1992

Caption Placed where they are forces the question about whether the installation is deliberate or accidental, perhaps the result of a maintenance person's order to "move them away from my window", or just discarded and left for shrubs to obscure, eventually to be discovered by a future archeologist who may declare them lost treasures of the early 21 century and nations may fight over them, leading to hard feelings between formerly friendly museum curators on opposite sides of the Dead Sea.Or perhaps they are molds for fiberglass letters for a sign that is no longer needed?There is a label, but the title seems incomplete, raising another question: "If The World A", what? ... and is "1992" the date or part of the title? If these two elements were presented formally on pedestals, or one pedestal?, (there are so many questions here), would they be nearly so interesting,? I doubt that I would not still be thinking about them."Belu-Simion Fainaru (born 1959) is an Israeli sculptor who was born in Bucharest, Romania and immigrated to Israel in 1973. He studied at the University of Haifa from 1980 to 1983 and earned an MA from the University of Chicago in 1984.
